Game Ended prematurely Empty Game Ended prematurely

Post  Moderator Sun Jul 25, 2010 1:11 pm

Rules

1. Outside communication is not allowed.
2. Each Day will last 24 hours. The Mod team reserves the right to extend this deadline by another 24 hours at the Mod's discretion.
3. There will be no night phase. Send all actions in during the Day. Whilst we will accept everything sent in up to including a second before the deadline, sending in your actions a little earlier will make our lives easier.
4. Communication between the dead and the living regarding the game is not allowed. Because it may come back to haunt you.
5. Normal method of lynching. Lynch XXXX This is the only format that will be accepted.
6. Activity will be checked regularly, both by Night Actions and by activity in the thread itself. We reserve the right to graphically kill and humiliate you if you become inactive. This can be avoided by informing the mods in advance that you will not be able to participate for a set amount of time.
7. (Delion) I've tried to waterproof this forum as best I can, but there's always a chance that the forums could be manipulated in some way or I've forgotten to untick a permissions box for a particular group or the like.

If you find you can:

Edit your posts.
Edit other peoples posts.
Open up a new topic in the same forum as the main game thread.
Delete anything.
See any forums you suspect you shouldn't.
See a forum called 'Moderator forum'.
Anything else you suspect you shouldn't be able to do.

Report it immediately and just continue as if you hadn't found a loophole. If anyone is found viewing the Moderator forum before the game is over, they will be modkilled and potentially face a ban from any future games I help moderate. Seriously, don't cheat.

8. Tomfuckery is not allowed, the punishment will be based on the severity of the offence.
9. The Mod team has the final word on any disputes.
10. All queries and Night Actions are to be sent to the Moderator account, aptly named Moderator. Do not send anything to either the Omega or Alpha accounts, because we'll mock you relentlessly.
11. Unless otherwise specified, you can only use one action per phase. Items are exempt from this, so you can use your one action and as many item actions as the items themselves allow. (If applicable)

Items are indicated by:

==Item Name==

What the item actually does, charges, etc.

==Item Name==

12. Any contradictions between these rules and a role ability are won by the role ability.

Day Two additions:

13: The day cannot end without someone being lynched.

14: The first time a person would be lynched, all votes will be reset and their allegiance revealed.

Day Three additions:

15. Once per phase you may send one person one message using the forum pm system.

I am the Moderator.

I Am.

I am Alpha. I am Sigma. I am Omega.

We are Aspects. We are the Moderator.

We watch. We wait. We intervene.

Sometimes We tire of worlds. Realities. We watch them burn, by Our own design. Fall back into nothing.

Sometimes We create new cosmos, new beings with which to play Our games.

In one such reality We observed the evolutions of mortals. In one such reality, We observed the formation of self-awareness.

We were intrigued.

The first mortals in an infinity to say I Am.

We preserved this world.

For Our amusement.

We observe as they struggle to rationalize their existence. We watch as one man loses control of his emotions and kills another, his mind clouded with rage. We are present as the last thread connecting soul to mortal shell snaps.

For We are the Ones who cut it. And the Ones who brought it from nothing into existence. The Ones who have brought it to fruition.

We watch as a single voice cries out in protest and is silenced.

We watch as one of these...

Humans. They call themselves humans.

We watch as these humans strive to understand their place in this uncaring universe.

We watch as a newborn is delivered in a stable, unknowing of his fate.

We watch as men challenge the shackles of their opressors.

We watch as they try to grasp the abstract. As they live, love, die.

We watch as they master the physical world around them. Conquering the stars.

We know every dream, every ambition, ever desire. We see people fighting to protect their way of life. To protect their ideals. To protect the ones they love.

It is alien.

We watch as one of these humans orders the death of millions, convinced he is doing god's work.

In vain.

For there is no god.

There is no benevolent deity.

There is only Us.

Unchanging, Uncaring.

Watching. Waiting.

Screaming.

...

Ignorance is bliss.

You all dance to My tune.

Post  Moderator Sat Aug 14, 2010 3:24 pm

"Mackerel scales and Mare's Tails," muttered Dur, as the dark clouds writhed above.

The weather forecast had been for a clear night sky, perfect for the amateur star gazer. As Dur walked towards his villa on the edge of the small Italian town, he noted the closed shutters and bolted doors. Bar him, the street seemed devoid of life. And yet, it wasn't just broiling sky that had everyone on edge. There was more to it.

Less than an hour later, the heavens opened. Booming rolls of thunder shook the lucky few who had managed to snatch a few hours rest from their sleep. Great streaks of lightning illuminated the night sky, temporarily blinding onlookers. The river surged, quickly becoming a raging torrent and bursting its banks.

Fearful, people spoke in hushed tones. The pious prayed to the Gods, hoping for an end to the abyssal storm. A few quietly muttered that only the Gods themselves could be responsible for such a storm, a war of heaven. The lightning intensified, each strike seconds from the last. As it reached a crescendo, the night was turned to day and the townspeople looked on with wonder.

Its wrath appeased, the storm began to die, the clouds dispersing. As everyone gratefully retired to bed, one small girl stayed at her bedroom window, staring at the stars until sleep took her. Nobody saw the two shooting stars, flaring briefly as they entered the Earth's atmosphere.

The next day, the damage became apparent. The only road in the village was still flooded and blocked by debris from the night before. Boulders and uprooted trees littered the only road connecting the town to the large city to the south. One of the pylon's supplying power to the town had taken a direct hit, cutting off contact with the outside world until it could be fixed. Everyone was relieved to find that there had been no casualties.

Addressing the town, the Mayor assured everyone that the worst was apparently over and declared that volunteers were working on raising a new pylon and clearing the debris left by the storm.

Life goes on.

Post  vavin Sat Aug 14, 2010 8:28 pm

A calculating woman wanders around the fallen pylon investigating the damage and assessing how long the work will take. A slight frown appears on her face as she makes internal calculations from her observations. She informs the foreman, 'The town will be isolated indefinitely without equipment from the city.' As she walks away she adds, 'There may be tools to help left from time ago.'

Post  Voaon Sat Aug 14, 2010 9:57 pm

The younglings eyes welled with tears. Anguish, fear and confusion all played across his face. The fields of flowers around around him held no beauty. The sweetcake he had filched earlier turned to dust in his mouth.

He had lost it. It was just gone, as though it had never existed. The knowledge of what had been roiled inside of him, burning his mind, tugging at his soul. But it was gone.

He would have to find it again. He would. He must. Less all things be worthless evermore.

He would have it again.

Post  Geof Sat Aug 14, 2010 11:04 pm

Geof tapped irritably on the keys of the small laptop on the desk in front of him. "Phaw," he muttered, "dead as a doorknob." He pushed his chair back and stood, shutting the notebook with a good deal more force than was necessary. He pulled one of the blinds down to peer into the street outside.

Post  Catrad Sat Aug 14, 2010 11:15 pm

Catrad looked quite confused when he awoke. It was as if his whole life had shifted, changed somehow. Things just weren't quite in the same spot as he remembered, colors were just slightly wrong. In the back of his head, he vaguely remembered hearing something saying "Come to the new forums...."

As Catrad ate breakfast, he realized he had no idea what a forum was, and why he would go to the new ones.

Shrugging off his confusion, he went to work, assisting people clearing away the mess from the night.

From the midst of the workers laboring away amongst the debris, a woman breaks away and dashes down the street. Hastily she calls ahead of her as she runs into a nearby bistro, making a b-line for the restroom inside.

Dirin stares solemnly at the vacant and dark supermarket that he worked at. "I don't suppose I will be working without electricity," Dirin sighs. What to do with my time now, he thinks, staring around the town at the milling people. "Atleast no one has broke into the market yet," Dirin says as he walks to see what the full damage of the town was.

Post  Bory Sat Aug 14, 2010 11:57 pm

"Odd," muttered Bory, "that despite the devastation there was not a single casualty..." During the night at least half of the village had been in the streets, panicking. And not a single piece of debris had touched any of these poor people... "There's something strange happening here, but I suppose only time will tell," he added as he made his way to the town center.

Post  Rion Sun Aug 15, 2010 12:44 am

Rion was an old woman. With age comes wisdom, and she was no exception. She had seen storms like this before; perhaps not quite so bad, but storms nonetheless. She would weather this one like any other, and reassure those who looked concerned. Seeing a young girl in the street with tears in her eyes, she gave her a pat and a smile, "Everything will be fine", she said. Continuing down the road, she was determined to find an open market so she could buy food to prepare for her family's dinner.

Weol's movements were stiff and disjointed as he moved through the debris taking in everything. So much destruction and chaos. He continued about his business of cleaning up as much as he could, as his boss had ordered. Already, a large pile of remains layed stacked to the left. This would take some time.
